Fencepost comes from St. Helena, California, in the heart of Napa Valley wine country. Two neighboring families shared many glasses of wine that they passed over the fence, and a vision was born of rich, elegant wines drawn from elite vineyards. We allow the grapes full range of expression and intervene as minimally as possible in the winemaking process, and the result is lush yet graceful. We are thrilled to have you join us on the journey.
2016 SAUVIGNON BLANCThis is a rich, round Sauvignon Blanc, very different than the acidic, grassy wines so often associated with this grape. Using single-vineyard fruit from Yountville, in the center of the Napa Valley, we whole-cluster press and then age the wine in French oak barrels for 16 months. By allowing the wine to undergo full malolactic fermentation, the result is a softer, lighter white wine.
2017 ROSÉ WINEOur rosé wine draws the flavors of sweet cherry and fresh, ripe strawberry from the warm fields of the famous Cherryhouse Vineyard in Lodi, California. This is a rosé wine both light and refreshing, but with the structure to enjoy all through the afternoon and evening (or morning, if you are so inclined).
2016 RED WINE BLENDDeep in Mendocino County sits the storied Alder Springs Vineyard, one of the northernmost vineyards in California. The grapes from these sprawling hills produce refined and elegant Rhône-style wines. Our red wine is a harmonious blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvêdre, and Counoise that evokes the sun of Southern France and elegance of California.
